Who is Atair Acres??? Atair Acres was created to honor one of Chris Allen's favorite all-around canines, UKC/AKC CH O'Bre-ons Eternal Fiver Atair UKC/AKC CD, ASFA/CKC LCM, TT, CGC. Atair was known for his prowness on the lure coursing field and proved himself a worthy competitor in open field hunting. Chris likes to work with animals to show how versatile they can be. Both her canines and equines perform in multiple venues and disciplines. They are also considered part of her family and are treated with the utmost respect and love. Through Atair Acres, Chris currently offers full-care boarding facilities for equines and agility training for canines. Dog Training: Agility, Obedience, Lure Coursing, and Conformation Over 35 Years Experience! Chris started with training a little Sheltie mix for hand signals so she could be directed without anyone knowing she was around. Chris had her in her dorm room at U of M. This is what got her hooked! Since then, she has progressed to training the following breeds: German Shepherds, Dobermans, Afghan Hounds, Ibizan Hounds, Whippets, Wire Hair Dachshund, Border Collies, Old English Sheep Dogs, Retrievers (Golden and Labrador), Rough Collies, Border Collies, Parsons Terriers, Rhodesian Ridgebacks, many mix breed dogs -- and even a Patterdale Terrier! Chris has trained and shown dogs in conformation, agility, lure coursing, and obedience. Her dog training talents have reaped both her students and herself many titles in just about every agility venue (AKC, UKC, USDAA, CPE) -- going all the way to the top titles in each venue! Because of Chris' special interest in Sighthounds, she is also very involved with lure coursing. Many of her dogs have placed in the top 10. Chris has also held the Region 6 Director position for the American Sighthound Field Association (ASFA). Training Dogs is one of the loves of Chris' life. Horses are also a very important part of her life. She has trained an Arabian mare and managed to qualify her for US Nationals in Halter and twice for Hunter Pleasure (Amateur and Open). She is currently training a few horses for carriage driving. Chris has run an equine boarding facility for the past 25 years.
